Memorial Day Weekend 2010
Written by admin on May 31, 2010 – 11:51 pm -Let’s see, for Memorial Weekend this year, we stayed in the City and did a few things:
- Saturday night - Rodney and Yukiko came up from LA and we went out for dinner at Hotel Adagio. I can’t stop thinking about their french fries!…Or I was really hungry!
.
- Sunday morning - I got up early and headed out for the SF Carnival Parade in the Mission. I found a good spot in the shade at the end of the parade route and didn’t have to wait too long for I could hear the head of the parade making its way up. It was a very hot day and the performers and dancers in the parade were still giving their best through the end. Lots of energy and cool salsa, samba, tango and many other dances, including a traditional Aztec dance.

- Monday - We met up with Azusa’s friend, Mariko, for lunch. Don’t know why but we decided on burgers and fries again. I think we are trying to find the best fries in the country! We had to stop by Azusa’s work first for some work calls, then met Mariko at Custom Burger. Yummy but $$!
.
We finished up and continued to Union Square for some shopping. At the Westfield mall entrance and the Powell cable car line on Market St, there was a protest between Israel and Palestine. While everyone was too busy hating each other, they missed out on a magical, never-before-seen circular rainbow right above their heads!

SF Wildest Race - The Bay to Breakers
Written by admin on May 16, 2010 – 11:46 pm -Currently, this has got to be the craziest event in San Francisco. The Bay to Breakers is an annual footrace from the bay (The Embarcadero) to the breakers (Ocean Beach), one end of the city to the other. This 12K race has serious runners in it, but the majority of the people are walking the race in ridiculous costumes and at times, no costumes at all. To sum it up, it is the biggest drunk party at 8am through the hills of San Francisco, with floats and alcohol. Did I mention the peeing in the streets??
I stood on the sidelines and here’s what I saw:
